5 September Indonesian Workers massive demonstrations in Jakarta

Based on the information press releases Indonesian Trade Union Confederation ( KSPI ) & Social Security Action Committee ( KAJS ) around 30:00 laborers from Purwakarta + Jabodetabek will take action related to social security and war against low wages at the State Palace .

The main issue in the action this time is the issue of wages which the government support by black entrepreneurs issued a policy called " Cheap Wages "


According to plan it would start from 09:am indonesian time until 16:00pm .
The workers will gather around Bundaran Indonesia before the march to the State Palace.

Indonesian workers reiterated below the minimum wage in 2014 had increased by 50%. The increase in pay to answer the impact of rising fuel prices have resulted in the purchasing power dropped by 30%. Not to mention that due to inflation, which is believed to be relatively high this year. 

"Indonesia's economic growth is also being improved, it has become a natural thing if wages rise 50 percent next year," said President FSPMI / KSPI Said Iqbal in Organizational Consolidation Meeting agenda FSPMI today.

"We have to go all out to fight for wages. Because wages are the only reward for labor. Consolation for weary workers after a month working hard on these companies, "he said.

To fight for the demands of the 50% wage increase, FSPMI together with other unions preparing a large-scale action throughout Indonesia. "Therefore the consolidation meeting us this time very seriously and has significance," said Iqbal.

Indonesian workers will form an alliance in the industrial areas. Included will reactivate Social Security Action Committee (KAJS). "

"We're going to move back. Do not just stop in the discussions in this room. The only way to ensure wages rose 50 per cent is with massive action throughout Indonesia, "said Iqbal

MPBI an Indonesian Labor Council

In the year 2012 in the month May 2012,  Third largest labor confederation and 8 federation  created an alliance called MPBI ( Majelis Pekerja Buruh Indonesia ).

MPBI is an Indonesian Labor Council that consist of KSPI, KSPSI dan KSBSI, three major confederations in Indonesia. In May Day 2012 they launch campaigned abaout " HOSTUM ".

HOSTUM stands for Hapus Outsoursing Tolak Upah Murah ( Removal of Outsourcing , Decline Cheap Wage  ).

After the campaign, the union movement has increased dramatically.  The climax is when the workers went on national strike on October 3 2012.
